»  Comments | Post a Comment

Authorities in Dillon County apprehended a burglary suspect Thursday night after a manhunt that lasted more than eight hours.

Officials with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office say Justin Townsend of Scott Street in Lake View finally surrendered between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m.

About ten officers from the Sheriff’s Office, the Lake View Police Department and the Dillon Police Department were involved in the hunt.

Authorities suspected that Townsend was involved in a burglary at a residence in Lake View last week. When they located him at his home around noon Thursday, he ran from the home and ultimately into the woods.

Officers had several phone conversations with him during the manhunt before he finally surrendered. They charged him with burglary and grand larceny. No charges related to the manhunt have been filed against him at this point.

Townsend remains in custody.

Authorities were not sure of his date of birth, but they estimate he’s in his 20s.
