Mindy Taylor (left), manager of community relations with Progress Energy, and Dr. Cheryl A. Cox, interim president of Williamsburg Technical College, exchange the check for Progress Energy’s gift to the College for their 2009-2010 $1,000 Progress Energy Scholarship and a $250 math contest contribution. Once a scholarship recipient is named, the Progress Energy Scholarship funds will be distributed to the recipient in two payments, $500 for fall semester and $500 spring semester. A special scholarship awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The math contest portion of the donation will be used to help fund the annual high school math contest on the College’s campus when area high school math teams come to compete. The next math contest is tentatively slated for Friday, February 12, 2010, at Williamsburg Technical College.
