A Hartsville man accused of shooting another man as he rode a bicycle Monday has turned himself in to deputies, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.
Antonio Brown is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and criminal conspiracy.
Deputies said the incident happened at about 4:30 p.m when Brown and another suspect pulled their vehicle beside the bicyclist, shot him, then drove away.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting is thought to be the result of an ongoing dispute between the suspects and the victim, Darlington County Sheriff's Capt. Andy Locklair said.
Deputies are still trying to identify the second suspect in the crime.
Brown turned himself into deputies Tuesday afternoon and remains in custody at the Darlington County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 398-4501 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.
