A group of people concerned about the proposed government healthcare reform came together in a town hall meeting Thursday night.
The Myrtle Beach TEA Party or ‘Taxed Enough Already’ invited the public to talk about what bothers them about the proposed bill at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot.
Some participants wore, "I am with Joe Wilson" t-shirts while guest speakers talked about the government, spending "recklessly".
Organizers said these town hall meetings are designed to come up with possible solutions to let the government know they don't want the healthcare reform to pass and don’t want their tax dollars to pay for health care for “undocumented aliens.”
"What brought us together is concerns about future generations,” said Luke Towery, the organization’s president, “we want to be able to pass the baton of freedom on to our children and our grandchildren and the direction that our country is currently headed and in the speed in which it's headed in that won't be a reality for children and grandchildren."
The hall was decorated with posters baring a large TEA Party logo along with dozens and dozens of “I support Joe Wilson” and “Beware Obama Care” buttons.
The depot packed a small room of more than 60 people joining in the town hall meeting.
A second meeting is scheduled for Oct. 19 at Broadway at the Beach.
