Political candidates running in Myrtle Beach city elections came together for a forum at the Canal Street Recreation Center.
The candidates running for mayor and council answered questions from people in the audience and given by a moderator.
Myrtle Beach Community Coalition for Good Government sponsored the event.
Some of the issues discussed include creating jobs and economic growth for the city.
Bennie Swans helped organize the event and he says the main goal of the forum is to inform citizens of the candidates’ views.
“This may be one of the most important elections we face in the next decade, so we want our people ready, willing, able and capable to make the decisions that will lend itself to moving this city,” said Swans.
In addition to tonight's open forum, an "old time" stump meeting where the candidates will make speeches will be held at the Myrtle Beach train depot a week from this Saturday.
