Members of the Georgetown County Organized Crime Bureau (OCB) along with additional officers with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, Georgetown City Police Department, US Marshal’s Service, Andrews Police and SLED conducted a warrant round-up that resulted in 29 arrests and the service of 48 warrants.
The round-up began in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2009, when five teams, with members from each agency, went out to different areas of Georgetown County in an attempt to serve 100 warrants through the apprehension of 50 wanted suspects. The concentrated areas were in and around Georgetown, Andrews, Sampit, Santee, and Pleasant Hill.
These warrants were compiled after an 8-month undercover-operation conducted by the OCB. All of the warrants were for distribution of illegal drugs. The illegal drugs consisted of cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and prescription narcotics.
During the round-up, members of the OCB also were able to seize $5,362.00, 118 grams of marijuana, .5 grams of cocaine, a pistol, and a stolen camcorder. These seized items were found in the possession of some of the suspects that were arrested.
The remaining 21 wanted suspects will be arrested through a continued search. They also have been entered in NCIC (National Crime Information Center) for a state wide and nation wide search.
