The hearing for a Myrtle Beach mayoral candidate, Beatrice Catalano, has been postponed. The hearing for her DUI charge was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Myrtle Beach Municipal Court.
The city handed the case over to Horry County’s solicitor’s office. Solicitor Lauree Richardson is handling the case, but doesn’t know at this time when the new hearing date will be.
Catalano was pulled over on Sept. 18 for suspicion of driving under the influence. Capt. David Knipes with the Myrtle Beach Police Dept. says she was arrested that night and released from jail the following morning.
Catalano says she took at lie-detector test on Sept. 30 where she answered three questions, saying that she had no alcohol or drugs in her system at the time of the traffic stop.
An examiner with the North Carolina-based company that she took the test with believes Catalano was truthful in her answers.
On Oct. 1, Catalano held a press conference to say she is innocent and was not intoxicate the night she was arrested.
