A Florence woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Florence man more than a month ago, Florence Police Lt. James Rodgers said.
Lauren Precious Wells, 23, of 702 Page St., was arrested early Wednesday morning and is charged with accessory before the fact of a violent felony and accessory after the fact of a felony or murder, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show. She remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.
Anthony D. Robinson, 26, apparently was trying to get into a vehicle in the 300 block of North Dargan Street when a man came up to him and shot him with a rifle sometime between 2 and 2:30 a.m. Sept. 4, according to Florence police reports.
The suspect fled in another vehicle after the shooting and Robinson made his way to nearby Trinity Baptist Church. Police said bystanders tried to give Robinson CPR in the church parking lot, but Robinson was pronounced dead at an area hospital about 3 a.m. that day.
The shooting suspect is described as a black man about 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds who appeared to be about 25 years old, according to police reports.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the police department at (843) 676-8800 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.
