Prisoner escapes deputy's custody in Pembroke

52-year-old Herman Locklear was charged with second-degree burglary and larceny. He escaped custody from deputies Wednesday in Pembroke.

Robeson County Deputies are searching for man who escaped while being taken to a Pembroke courtroom Wednesday morning.

Maj. Howard Branch said 52-year-old Herman Locklear was charged with second-degree burglary and larceny.

He is a Native American male with gray hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his lower left arm of a heart and the word "Pansy."

This the second escapee in Robeson County in about a week. Last week, an inmate escaped from the Robeson County Detention Center.

Branch said they have a group of officers in Pembroke searching for Locklear and they hope get him in custody soon.
