COLUMBIA -- Attorney General Henry McMaster's gubernatorial campaign announced recently it has raised more than $1.09 million since McMaster officially launched his campaign for governor five weeks ago.

That total sets a new record for the amount of money raised in a single quarter by any of the candidates running for governor in the 2010 election cycle, according to the press release. HenryMcMaster.com, the official name of the gubernatorial campaign, will report more than $1 million cash on hand when it files its official quarterly financial disclosure later Saturday. McMaster officially launched his campaign for governor on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009.

"We are overwhelmed by the support we have received since Attorney General McMaster launched his campaign to put South Carolina back on the Path to Prosperity," said McMaster's finance chairman Bill Stern. "Our million-dollar fundraising quarter is the strongest statement yet that Attorney General McMaster has emerged as the Republican candidate with the executive experience, maturity and judgment that our state needs in its next governor."
