Well, folks, it’s happening again. Our elected officials are about to intrude into our private lives once more.
I’m talking about the government’s attempt to ban all cell phone use while driving. When will it end?
There are many reasons for accidents but it isn’t possible to regulate them all. There have been accidents in the past, before cell phones existed and there will continue to be accidents whether someone is talking on one or driving safely. It’s similar to the mandatory seatbelt laws, just another knee-jerk reaction. People die wearing them and people die when they’re not wearing them. When it’s your time to go, you’re going!
It seems like people lose their common sense when they become politicians, so let me try to refresh that part of their brain. OK, their reason for all of these laws is to save lives and reduce health care costs, correct? Well, let’s get down to it.
First, ban all tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, all firearms, knives fast foods, contact sports and require all cyclists including motorcycles to wear helmets and fullbody armor.
Wait a minute, I have a brilliant idea! Ban all motorized vehicles, then everyone can just walk. Think of all the lives that would be saved! Come on, people, contact your elected officials to stop this nonsense law before it’s too late!
