Reginald Mulligan, 29, of Dillon, was sentenced to 110 months imprisonment by United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins.
On Feb.5, 2009, agents went to arrest Reginald Mulligan at an apartment on McNeil Street in Dillon. The arrest warrant for Mulligan was based on a parole violation out of New Jersey. When officers knocked and announced their presence, Mulligan answered the door. Mulligan then gave consent to search his apartment, and officers seized a loaded .38 caliber firearm and multiple rounds of 9mm and .32 caliber ammunition from Mulligan’s bedroom.
Mulligan has previously been convicted of several drug and weapons charges and was an admitted member of the Bloods street gang while residing in New Jersey.
The case was investigated by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal Service. Assistant United States Attorney Rose Mary Parham of the Florence office is prosecuted the case as part of Project CeaseFire, which seeks to prosecute individuals who unlawfully use or possess firearms.
