According to a release from the Horry County Police Department, officers wrote 46% fewer citations for the 2009 fall bike rally than for 2008, and 66% fewer than two years ago.
In all, county officers wrote 568 citations for the rally this year, compared to 1,060 in 2008 and 1,682 in 2007.
Speeding tickets made up 67% of this year's citations, or 386 out of the total.
The drop in tickets written may reflect both a drop in overall attendance numbers, and it may reflect a decrease in the number of bikers who actually still came, but did not spend much time in Horry County, because of the new stricter ordinances passed earlier this year by Myrtle Beach City Council.
