With the holiday season in full swing some local shoppers are already looking to find just the right items at the just the right price.
So is it better to shop online or shop in the stores?
Thursday, shopper Christina Hursch, said getting her shopping done online is a major time saver.
”Going to the stores right is more of hassle for me especially with my two-year-old son,” Hursch said, “I’ve noticed that a lot of them are offering free shipping the discounts are actually great and I actually can shop today instead of tomorrow to get the deals that they are offering.”
Others like Sherri Denish who are looking to sidestep holiday shopping crowds, said she like’s to compare prices and ship gifts anywhere without leaving her home.
”It doesn’t matter what time it is...I don’t have to wait for a store to be open, if I got home late and if I don’t feel like getting to bed right away ...I can do a little bit of shopping.”
Market research company, comScore Inc reports that online retail revenue is expected to go up 3 percent, meaning there will be a whopping $28.8 billion for the months of November and December.
While online retailers like Amazon and eBay have gained much popularity as third party sellers, it still didn’t impress shoppers like Jessica Hopkins and Gary Denish who said that they’d rather go to the stores.
“I think it’s better than shopping online because people are always afraid of internet scams,” said Hopkins, “everybody feels better seeing what they’re buying in person and if it’s clothes, you’d like to try it on.”
The National Retail Federation reports that on ‘Cyber Monday’ more than 80 percent of online retailers will be offering promotions.
