Just as most everyone prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday a lot of you also prepare for the day after Thanksgiving or better known as ‘black Friday.’

Even though many retailers will take the day off to celebrate the holiday with their families, a lot of them at Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach started preparing for weeks and months in advance to get all the merchandise ready for shoppers to buy this Friday morning.

Some of those retailer said that they have to have everything ready before dawn on black Friday.

“We’ve been busy planning this, from hiring some seasonal staff to getting the floor fully stalked and getting our sale merchandise ready to go having all of our employees trained so they can help our customers to the best of their ability, “ said store manager Laura Dick at Palmetto Moon Laura Dick.

"This week prior to black Friday we've seen such an increase in traffic sales that it's really looking good for us," she said.

The mall packed a lot of early shoppers Wednesday as some of them told News 13 that they’d rather not wait to fight the crowds this Friday.

“I’m very impatient,” said Patricia Wiggins who came to the mall with her family, “I don’t like standing in lines I tried going shopping last year on Black Friday and we all turned around and came back home empty handed.”

“I think that we found equal sales,” said Sherry Johnson who got most of her shopping done early ” to go out this Friday you never know what the weather is going to be like and we want to just sleep in and relax and just get this shopping done before the crowds hit the mall.”

Retailers such as The Gap, Bath and Body Works, and Aeropostale were busy lining up special offers, hoping to lure black Friday shoppers even during a slumping economy.

“We want customers to get the best deal on our products and save the most money,” said Dick, “in the past couple of weeks we’ve been letting them know about our $5 sale which will be going on until the product runs out and we also have a coupon in the coupon book that Coastal Grand Mall is giving away with 20% off of a $100 purchase.”

In October, retail sales were up by 1.4 percent, after a 2.3 percent decline in September, according to U.S. Department of Commerce figures.

Doors are expected to open at 5am at most places this Friday. Some places even start at 4am.
