Lake City-area residents reflect on Thanksgiving holiday

LAKE CITYThanksgiving is Thursday, and citizens in Lake City and the surrounding areas are reflecting on the things for which they are thankful.

Susan M. Palmer, speech-language pathologist of Signature Speech Solutions Inc. in Lake City, said she is incredibly thankful for her mother, whom she continues to lean on and learn from as a grown woman.

Palmer said she is thankful for her husband, whom she said she trusts with her love and her life. She said she is thankful for her children because they give her a true sense of purpose and that she’s also thankful for her friends.

Palmer said she could not ask for a greater gift than to be a daughter, a wife, a mother or a friend to some of the most wonderful people ever created.

Lake City Public Library Branch Manager and Librarian Debbie Quesada said she is thankful for her family, her job, the ability to live in a free country, and God.
Yvonne McDaniel, guidance counselor at Main Street Elementary School, said she is thankful to have a closer relationship with God, good health, her daughter and her family.

Coward Police Officer James McAllister said he is thankful to have the opportunity to go to work daily and help make a difference in the community.

Given the state of the economy, Bettie Gamble, a branch associate at Lake City Public Library, said she is thankful for her job. Gamble said she is also thankful for her family and friends.

Lake City firefighters Kenneth Justice and Lt. Carnell Montgomery said they are thankful for their family, friends, good health and the chance to serve the community as firefighters.

“I’m blessed,” Montgomery said.

Scranton Police Chief Larry W. Rogers said he is thankful to be able to work with good people. Rogers said he is also thankful for his friends and family.

Jonathan Dickson, manager of Belk in Lake City, said this holiday season that he and his staff are thankful that the store is continuing to progress and serve the citizens of Lake City and surrounding communities.

Scranton Town Clerk Kay Floyd said she is thankful for her family and her friends.
