Florence census office to have ceremony, reception

State Rep. Phillip Lowe of Florence and other dignitaries will formally kick off the 2010 Census in Florence and five counties in South Carolina with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Florence Local Census Office.

It is scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at the office, located at 400 E. Southvillage Blvd., Suite E, behind Taco Bell on South Irby Street.

The South Florence High School NJROTC of will present the colors and the school’s Choraliers will perform music.

Lowe will deliver keynote remarks. William W. Hatcher, regional director of the U.S. Census Bureau, also will speak. The S.C. Census Quilt, by Aiken artist Jackie Hill, also will be on display.

The ceremony will be follwed by a reception and office tour scheduled at the end of the one-hour program.
