Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, was an amazing day in the little town of Timmonsville. At 11 a.m., a wonderful celebration of past, present and future took place at First Baptist Timmonsville. The occasion was Homecoming 2009. There was a powerful presence of God from the parking lot to the pulpit, and into the pews. Hope, love, faith and joy unspeakable were evident as current and former members, along with special guests, worshiped in one accord. Many rejoiced and praised God for his sustaining power and constant faithfulness to First Baptist Timmonsville. The service was filled with old songs, new songs, and a special awareness that God still moves in the hearts of his people.
Many people spent countless hours preparing the building and grounds, cooking the meal and preparing the photos and historical documents. Everyone prayed fervently for Jesus to be high and lifted up on this special day, and he was. God has shown us vividly that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church.
Following the worship service everyone feasted on a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall. The food tables seemed to stretch the length of a football field, and those eating resembled a starving football team following a Super Bowl victory.
Thanks to everyone who made Homecoming 2009 a special victory in Jesus. First Baptist Timmonsville is a special place with special people, serving a special God. I love my church, I love my people, and I thank God daily for the honor of serving the great people of Timmonsville.
