CONWAY – One suspect is in custody and a second sought by Horry County investigators following the slaying of David Jermaine Lane, 28, 1125 Oscar Lane, Little River, Friday.

Officers found Lane in his residence, dead, after they responded to reports of a shooting, according to the release.

Lamarcus DeCarlos Vereen, 25, of Longs is currently in custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to a release from the Horry County Police Department. Officers will serve him with a warrant charging him with murder, according to the release.

Investigators are looking for Quintney Eugene Graham, who is also known as Gino or Esco, 19, of Atlantic Beach. He is charged with murder, according to the release.

“Suspect should be considered armed and dangerous,” according to the release.

As the search goes on, Lane's family is mourning his death.

"We are a very, very close family. Everybody in the family is close. When something happens to one person it happens to all,” said Lane’s Aunt Lee Grissett.

Lane's relatives say he never said no to raking leaves for his mom, taking out the trash for his aunt, or riding bikes with his younger cousins.

"If you needed anybody to do anything for you, if you needed to call him for anything, he was there,” said Lane’s cousin, Natalie Carter.

Autopsy results show Lane was shot multiple times, leaving his family puzzled.

"I have a lot of unanswered questions. One for example, why him,” said Grissett.

"It shouldn't have happened to him because he didn't deserve what has happened to him,” said Carter.

Now that he's gone, Lane's family says a big presence in their large family will be missed.

Grissett says Lane’s funeral will be held on Wednesday. Time and location have not been determined.

Anyone with information on the wanted suspect is asked to please call the Criminal Investigations Division at 915-8345, Dispatch at 248-1520 or if you wish to remain anonymous at 915-TIPS(8477).
