Progress Energy will conduct a planned outage at the Florence City-County Complex on Saturday and Sunday to upgrade service to the facility.
The complex, at 180 N. Irby St., will be without power from 7 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday according to a press release from the company.
In addition to the government complex, these areas adjacent to the facility will be without power from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday: the west side of the 100 block of Irby Street; the north side of the 100 block of Evans Street; and the west side of the 100 block of North Dargan Street.
“This work is very important to ensuring continued reliability for the city and county offices and the surrounding area,” Mindy Taylor, community relations manager for Progress Energy, said in the release. “We know there’s never a good time for a power outage, and we regret any inconvenience to customers affected. We will work to complete the upgrades as quickly and safely as possible.”
Because of the scheduled outage Sunday, some businesses in the are may be affected and have been contacted already by Progress Energy about that possibility.
If weather conditions require the project to be rescheduled, Progress Energy will announce an alternate date and time before the work is conducted.
