Marion group sends care packages to soldiers

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A group of mothers and community members in Marion is sending care packages to troops overseas.

On Thursday night, the group packed boxes with supplies and gifts for soldiers in Afghanistan.

Linda Johnson, whose son is in Afghanistan, organized the event. She said she originally wanted to send a care package to her son, but she decided it would be even better to send packages to everyone in his unit.

"I wanted everyone to know that, not only that their family cares about them and thinks about them, but other people do too," she said. "So I just want to make sure that we let them know that everybody and other people are thinking about them also."

The group is sending boxes to 116 soldiers.
