A Coastal Carolina University football player was arrested Friday morning on driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
According to a J Ruben Long Detention Center booking report, Austin Jace Shirley, 22, of Greenwood, SC was booked around 3:16 a.m.
Shirley is a linebacker for the Chanticleer's football team.
According the university's website, Shirley transferred from Piedmont Technical College in 2007.
There's no word yet on his playing status for Saturday's season ending game at Charleston Southern.
