Senator shows appreciation for veterans

»  Comments | Post a Comment

It is great that we stop and remember our veterans who have given us so much and all those who are presently serving.
President John F. Kennedy once said “as we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
We should not only show appreciation for our brave men and women one day a year but each and every opportunity that we get. One way to do so is to fully appreciate and take advantage of the freedoms that so many have given their lives to protect.
For Americans, liberty is our freedom. It is what separates our great nation from the rest of the world. Liberty is the freedom that our men and women in uniform have continuously fought and died for throughout the years. We have become complacent with our freedoms. Vote in elections; voice your opinions on issues in newspapers and to friends. Help a neighbor in need. Be thankful for living in a nation that has a proven court system and serve on jury duty when called. Honor our soldier’s sacrifices on a daily basis and show them that they were not made in vain.
Show those who are presently serving our country unequivocally that their service and sacrifices are not going unnoticed. Give them the support that they need in this most difficult time, in any and all ways that we can. There are countless ways you can impact not only the life of a soldier, but their families, and our nation as a whole as we attempt to heal the wounds caused by war and its consequences to us all, whether we have a loved one serving or not.
Deployed soldiers continue to need letters written from home and care packages filled with goodies and necessities. One site that can help link you to troops and soldiers that are deployed is http://www.anysolider.com. Returning soldiers need help assimilating back in to their families and communities. PTSD casualties are mounting, as is the need to boost the VA system and health care facilities whose task is to rise quickly to the challenge to meet the needs of our wounded patriots. I would encourage you to do what you can, take a moment and visit http://www.military.com/benefits/resources/support-our-troops. This site will provide you with information on how you can show your support to our brave men and women throughout the year.
