Agents have arrested a Mullins man after an extensive drug investigation by the Marion County Combined Drug Unit, according to a press release from Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson.
Robert Andre “Base” Legette, 29, was arrested Nov. 10 with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service after being a fugitive for the past several months, Richardson said. Legette is charged with a count of trafficking cocaine base-second offense; two counts of distribution of cocaine base-second offense; two counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana-second offense; a count of possession of a controlled substance-second offense; a count of possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime; a count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base within one-half mile of a school or park; and two counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana within one-half mile of a school or park. More charges are possible.
If convicted of all charges, Legette faces up to 141 years state prison, Richardson said. He remains in custody at the Marion County Detention Center on a $95,000 bond.
Throughout the course of this investigation, the drug unit seized two semi-automatic pistols, a .50-caliber revolver, two assault rifles, a large caliber hunting rifle with armor-piercing ammunition, a large quantity of ammunition, several quantities of crack cocaine, several quantities of marijuana, various quantities of illegally obtained prescription medication, a large assortment of paraphernalia consistent with the manufacture and sale of illegal drugs, and a small amount of cash, Richardson said.
The drug unit has been investigating Legette’s activities for the past seven months with help from the Mullins Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Richardson said.
