Hemingway man pleads built to federal drug charges
Roy Davis Draughn, 26, of Hemingway was among seventeen Pee Dee men who pleaded guilty to their involvement in a drug conspiracy spanning the past decade and involving more than 100 kilograms of powder cocaine and crack cocaine.
The men began entering guilty pleas last month, and the last plea was entered last week, according to a press release issued Monday by U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins.
Draughn, along with three other men, face sentences of 10 years to life imprisonment.
Eight men from Florence and five from Hartsville face a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison with a maximum possible penalty of life in prison.
Johnsonville man charged with drug distribution and manufacturing
The Florence County Sheriff’s Department booked Anson Stone of 963 S. Deerfield Rd., Johnsonville, Nov. 10 on charges of distribution and manufacturing of a narcotic and a cocaine base drug. According to the department’s bookings, Stone was booked shortly after 4:00 p.m. and released around 4:30 p.m. The two charges were listed as first offense in both categories.
Hemingway woman booked in Florence County on detainer
Melinie Poston, 68 Whispering Pines Rd., of Hemingway was moved to the Florence County detention center Nov. 10 according to the Florence County Sherriff’s Office. Poston was arrested earlier this year along with five others from Hemingway and Johnsonville on nine counts of drug charges.
An official with the detention center said Poston is being held temporarily for federal authorities.
