Horry County Council set to select new administrator tonight

CONWAY -- Horry County Council will met tonight at 6 p.m. in Conway. Among the items on the agenda - council is expected to make a selection to fill the county's open administrator position.

Duncan Ballantyne, a former county administrator in Martin County, Fla.; Terry Stewart, a former city manager of Cape Coral, Fla.; and current county attorney and interim administrator John Weaver.

All three candidates took part in a final round of public interviews with the council on Monday.

Director of Public Information Lisa H. Bourcier said Terry Stewart withdrew his name from consideration around 3 p.m. today. The vote was 6-6, 6 voting for Weaver and 6 for Ballentyne.

The council voted to have the Mercer Group forward another group of applicants to County Council, according to Bourcier.
