Suspended Atlantic Beach mayor Retha Pierce says some charges against her have been dropped.
Pierce says charges for disorderly conduct and trespassing from an incident in January were dismissed Friday morning in a Horry County court.
Pierce says she was told the charges were dropped because the arresting officer failed to appear in court.
Pierce told News13, “The event never should have been in the first place, they were false allegations from the beginning. It was a set-up. I always maintained the faith because God sits on the throne and He wins every case and wins every battle.”
The charges stemmed from an incident in January when then police chief Randy Rizzo arrested Pierce after he says she was abusive to people inside town hall.
Pierce was suspended as mayor last month by Gov. Mark Sanford after she was indicted by a Horry County grand jury on charges stemming from an April hit and run arrest.
Pierce will remain suspended until she's acquitted or convicted.
