A 3-year old boy died Sunday as a result of a single-car collision that killed his 10-year-old sister Saturday about six miles east of Kingstree.

The crash occurred at about 2:10 p.m. on Secondary 456, also known as Wilson Chapel Road, where the driver and mother of the children, Tami Ivonne Turner of Kingstree, lost control of her vehicle when the road curved to the left, according to S.C. Highway Patrol reports. The car ended up turned over in a field on the right side of the road.

The girl, Tamaya Burgess, was pronounced dead on the scene after being thrown about 25 to 30 feet from the car, Williamsburg County Deputy Coroner Vernell Fulton said.

The boy, Tamel Watson, was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence where he died Sunday morning, Fulton said.

Turner, 40, was treated and released from Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
