American Red Cross helps fire victims in Horry County

The local American Red Cross provided assistance to two families in Horry County who were displaced due to fires over the past two days.

An electrical fire at 5250 Polly Swamp Rd., Conway displaced three adults and two children who were assisted by the Red Cross on Nov. 13. One person was treated for smoke inhalation at that fire.

A fire destroyed a home Nov. 14 at 111 Old Buck Creek Rd., Longs. Two adults were displaced from that home.

Already this fiscal year, the local Red Cross has assisted 62 families consisting of 195 people who have been victims of home fires. Of those individuals, 76 have been children and the chapter has provided more than $31,000 in financial assistance. The chapter serves clients in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
