The search continues for a man who robbed a Florence bank Friday morning.

The man nonchalantly walked into the Wachovia branch office at 104 David H. McLeod Blvd. about 9:45 a.m. and approached a teller as if to conduct business, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.

The man presented the teller with a bag and a note demanding money. The teller complied with the robber’s demands, and the man walked out the same door from which he’d entered. Nobody was hurt during the robbery, Raines said.

The robber is described as a white man, 40 to 45 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds. He had a mustache and goatee and was wearing a dark green or brown sweater, blue jeans and a dark green or brown rimmed hat and glasses at the time of the robbery.

Police don’t know whether the robber left the area by foot or by car. Anyone who was in the parking lot and may have seen him leaving is asked to call the police department at (843) 665-3193, the local FBI office at (843) 662-9363 or the state Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.
