The Town of Society Hill will celebrate its Annual Catfish Festival beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Not a catfish connoisseur? Fifty-nine food vendors are making plans to be there with a variety of foods. Also, 30 crafts vendors will be in town. The action takes place on the grounds of the Old St. David’s Academy in Society Hill.
This year a carnival with rides for the children has been added. It will be set up on the ball field at St. David’s and will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday from and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The adults might be rushing to town for the catfish and bargains, but the children will be there to get their first glimpse this year of Santa Claus as he rides in the parade on the fire truck at 11 a.m. The parade will also feature the Hartsville High School Marching Band and the Lamar Marching Band. A band competition takes place shortly after the parade at 12:15 p.m.
