Four people have been arrested in connection with the Oct. 30 shooting death of a Kingstree businessman, Williamsburg County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Johnson said.
Ernest Prosser, 54, was found dead in his home by his son who dropped by his father’s home to pick up a license plate.
Prosser’s son noticed the back door to his father’s home was open, walked in and found his father with several gunshot wounds to his chest, face and neck, Johnson said.
Williamsburg County sheriff’s investigators said the motive behind the murder likely was robbery, as Prosser was a successful business owner in Williamsburg County.
Deputies said 18-year-old Ronetta Miller of Kingstree was sent into Prosser’s home to distract him while the other suspects stole from him, Johnson said.
“She was sent in with the inclination to have sex with him, but it didn’t work out that way,” he said.
Miller is charged with murder in connection with Prosser’s death, Johnson said.
She, along with 22-year-old Tiffany Jones of Kingstree, were turned in to deputies by their parents, he said. Jones is charged with accessory before and after the fact of murder.
Cornelius McClary, 24, of Kingstree and Deandre Wallace, 24, of Lake City are each charged with murder, first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Johnson said.
Bond has been denied for all four suspects, who remain in custody at the Williamsburg County Detention Center in Kingstree.
