Remnants of Hurricane Ida hammered the Pee Dee and Grand Strand overnight and into the morning Wednesday, flooding roads, felling trees and littering area roads with wrecked cars.
Veterans Day ceremonies in Florence that had been scheduled to take place in the Veterans Park by the Florence Civic Center were moved to West Florence High School Tuesday in anticipation of today's weather.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, NC issued a flood warning for Horry County, Georgetown County, Williamsburg County, Marion County and Florence County until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The warning noted many areas had already received 2-3 inches of rain and the rain continued to fall at a rate of up to two-inches an hour.
In Georgetown, National Weather Service officials said US 17 had been closed because of high water.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol’s computer aided dispatch system at 9:08 a.m. listed 17 incidents on highways in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand areas – down from earlier in the morning.
In Florence County, firefighters from Windy Hill and Howe Springs volunteer fire departments responded to several crashes.
Windy Hill firefighters were also out on US 76/301 where a tree was on fire, a power pole was broken and power lines were down between FMU and the Florence County Fairgrounds.
Traffic signals from the US 76/301 intersection with SC 327 at FMU to the Marion County line were malfunctioning at one point, according to the highway patrol.
