Let me tell you of two incidents that happened to me, about two different people.
I had the opportunity to visit my friend’s ranch the other day; she invited me over. I thought I was going to a farm instead of a plantation. I was overwhelmed when the guy came over who owned it. I said “Hi, Mr. Millionaire,” and he turned and looked at me and said, and I quote: “No! I’m just little old me, and if you are around anyone, you hear them speak of me in that sense, please correct them for me.”
This man was humble to God’s blessings where he could have been boasted up.
Now my next story is about a man also. Recently, I needed a large sum of money. I went door-to-door trying to come up with it. But by no means, even the people I knew that were financially blessed, turned me down. While talking to someone about this, they said: “Now! I don’t believe there is one person I could think of that would help, not even in the Christian walk of life, that would help me or you except for” — and they named the Rev. Gadsden, pastor of Wesley Chapel Church. Now this says a lot for us as a people but more so as Christian walk of life, how people see us.
Now back to my story. After no one helped, I finally went back to talk with God. I told Him that I needed to see Him move by Tuesday; this was Sunday night. On Tuesday, nothing happened. An old lady told me I needed to pray; I told her I already did and that I was waiting on God.
On Wednesday, all the money was in my hand. When I presented the money to the bill collector, I said: “You see? God promised He would provide all my needs, and all is here by God.”
You know what he told me? “God had nothing to do with you getting this money.”
Chills ran through my body. He said, “You’ll never convince me of that, God helping you get this money.” I still get chills talking about this.
Do you see a difference in the stories? This is why God does things the way He does: so that we will know where and who gets the credit, and the way He afflicts us no man on this earth can tell who did it, for I know only God. Who did it? God did it!
