The Lake City Concert Series will present the Hartsville Chamber Ensemble in concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Lake City Presbyterian Church.
The Hartsville Chamber Ensemble had its beginning in the summer of 2006 as a group of Hartsville-area musicians who wanted to prepare a challenging repertoire of vocal music.
The group is composed of sopranos Sharman Poplava and Holly Prescott, altos Candace Holcombe and Vicki Norment, tenors Robert Jones and Pat Youngblood, and basses Dave Godshalk and Terry Poplava.
The ensemble performs contemporary selections, folk tunes and spirituals, and newly composed pieces by prominent contemporary composers. Last fall, the group collaborated with Professor Wanda Ebright, dancers from Coker College and Florence artist Angie Ketcham to present a performance combining the visual and performing arts.
Hartsville Chamber Ensemble Director Anna White Hill has served as music director for First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville for 29 years. She is also the assistant director of the Hartsville Civic Chorale and founder and director of the Hartsville Children’s Chorale. She directed the Darlington County Schools All-County Choir for 12 years.
Accompanist Kim Roberts is organist at First Baptist Church in Hartsville and the director of choral activities for the Hartsville Middle School Magnet Program.
