HEMINGWAY— Town council held a brief meeting the afternoon of Nov. 4 for the first reading of an ordinance discussing the expansion of the current water system to include the Muddy Creek area.

The cost of the project is estimated at over $3 million, according to the ordinance, a portion of which will be paid for out of a Waterworks and Sewer System Improvement Revenue Bond for $2,079,000, addressed in the ordinance.

Additional funding has already been acquired through other bonds for the project.

According the ordinance, the project will include the construction of approximately 153,000 feet of “raw water line.” A second reading for the ordinance is scheduled for this week.
