Myrtle Beach police need the public’s help in identifying and finding a suspect who they say snatched a woman's purse and then struck the victim and two other people as she fled the scene.
They say the incident happened Monday around 9:30 a.m. near the K-Mart on N. Kings Highway. Capt. David Knipes said in a press release that a woman grabbed a pocketbook from a 75-year-old victim and tried running away.
Police say when the suspect got into her vehicle, she hit struck the victim and two other people. At least one of the victims was seriously injured.
Witnesses told police that while the suspect was leaving the scene, the driver’s side door was forced forward and not able to be closed.
The suspect is described as a white female, about 5’0”, average build with long blond/brown hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Witnesses said she was in a blue, possibly 4-door GM Celebrity or a 2-door Pontiac Sunbird. The vehicle hit several others and is believed to have significant rear damage as well as extensive damage to the driver-side door.
