The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has given a grant under the stimulus package to the Emergency Food and Shelter Program in Horry County which was formed by FEMA to help residents with food, utilities and rent assistance.
This program consists of United Way of Horry County and several of its agencies working together with other nonprofits in a collaborative effort to assure Horry County residents receive the help they need.
The United Way’s food pantries are coordinating a portion of the grant money to purchase food for the mass distribution sites to help feed our neighbors who are experiencing difficult economic times.
These pantries are: Churches Assisting People, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach and North Strand Helping Hand.
The final mass food distribution will be on Saturday, November 14th at the Socastee United Methodist Church beginning at 1:00pm for the first 400 Horry County families in need of food.
This distribution is being hosted by Churches Assisting People and Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach. The distribution is open to all Horry County residents, one per household.
