Illegal Israeli man arrested in Myrtle Beach, sentenced on weapons charges

An Israeli man arrested in Myrtle Beach after rentering the United States illegally was sentenced in federal court on weapons charges.

According to a press release, Oren Ayash, 34, was sentenced in federal court for possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(5)(A).

United States District Judge R. Bryan Harwell sentenced Ayash to 8 months imprisonment.

He will be deported to Israel upon the completion of his sentence.

Ayash is an Isreali citizen who illegally reentered the country after being removed from the United States in July 2004.

Ayash was arrested and his residence was searched last April, and a 9mm Glock pistol and ammunition were found.

Federal law prohibits illegal aliens from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was investigated by agents of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II, of the Florence

office handled the case.
