Bennettsville police investigate armed robbery

Bennettsville police are looking for the man they say robbed the Pizza Hut on the U.S. 15/401 Bypass about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The robber, armed with a shotgun, entered through the back door and demanded money from an employee working near the cash register, Lt. John Hepburn said. The restaurant was closed, but employees were inside cleaning up.

The robber fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money, Hepburn said. He is described as a white man wearing a hooded jacket and a mask.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the police department at (843) 479-3620 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.
