An idea that began just three months ago opened three weeks ago.
“I’ve always been a stay at home mom, but I wanted to make a little extra money, without having to put my kids in daycare. Plus, I love consignment and things are tough right now,” Susan Sawyer, owner of Bella’s Boutique said.
Bella’s Boutique, located on the north end of Main St. in Marion, is not only a women and children’s consignment shop, but they also sell everything from handmade clothing to jewelry to soap.
“Everything is custom made to your size,” said Sawyer, “If you don’t see your size she’ll make it to your size.”
Many of the venders you can find at Bella’s Boutique are local single or stay at home moms looking to make extra money. The boutique offers them a place to sell their items free of rent.
So far, business has been pretty good according to Sawyer, “You wouldn’t believe it. People just come in because it’s unique.”
“I can’t keep some of the things on the shelves,” she said.
Bella’s Boutique is currently accepting women and children’s fall and winter gently used clothing.
Sawyer is open to the idea of adding new vendors, “If they have something unique that we don’t have, we’ll give it a try.”
The name Bella’s Boutique comes from her Chihuahua. Sawyer was trying to come up with a name for the store, but couldn’t name it after either of her daughters because the other would be upset, so she said fine it will be Bella’s.
Bella’s Boutique is open Tuesday though Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“I’m hoping it will make it, especially in this economy. People need the extra money and they need to save money. I’m hoping it makes it because I sure have worked hard,” Sawyer said.
