Barefoot's Love Course to reopen Monday

MYRTLE BEACH (AP) -- A Grand Strand course that sustained damage from April's wildfire will reopen next week.

Officials at the Barefoot Resort & Golf said that a course designed by PGA Tour pro Davis Love III will open Monday.

The Love Course at Barefoot Resort sustained damage to trees, plants and access bridges as the fire burned the area in late April. A resort course there designed by noted architect Tom Fazio received similar damage.

For a few days immediately after the fire's containment, golfers were allowed to play 15 holes on the Love Course and three on the Fazio Course since there was no damage to fairways or greens.

The Love Course was closed April 28 so access bridges could be repaired.

Barefoot officials say the Fazio Course will reopen on July 1.
