The South Carolina State Guard will host a canned food drive during the Military Appreciation Day activities on May 30, in Myrtle Beach.
LTC Justin F. Blum tells News13 elements of the South Carolina State Guard (1st and 4th Battalions, 3rd Coastal Brigade) will be hosting a canned food drive from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Military Appreciation Day Family Fun in the Exhibition Area and later that evening will be at the entrance of the Grand Park at 7:00 PM, prior to the Concert and Fireworks Show, collecting a canned food item per person for admission to the concert and fireworks show.
All collected food will be distributed to the needy along the Grand Strand area.
The South Carolina State Guard is comprised of all volunteers between the ages of 17 and 70+ who serve throughout South Carolina performing selfless service in order to adhere to the needs of their community in times of both natural disasters and during times of calm.
