»  Comments | Post a Comment

Medical expenses are mounting for Margaret Alexander, who received a double lung transplant March 25 at Duke University Medical Center.

That’s why the Cooks for Christ are having a chicken bog benefit for Alexander on Thursday at West Florence Fire Department 1 along Pineneedles Road. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and supper from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tickets are $6 each and lunch can be delivered for orders of seven or more plates. Checks should be made payable to Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to help defray the medical and living expenses the family is facing.

Alexander was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and was forced to temporarily move to Durham, N.C., to be placed on the lung transplant list. She and her husband are still in Durham while she undergoes additional pulmonary rehabilitation at Duke.

Additional information is available by calling Shannon Alexander, (843) 621-6349; Beverly McKee, (843) 229-0348; or Michelle Tarlton, (843) 992-5698.
