MYRTLE BEACH - Freestyle Music Park is set to swing open its gates on Saturday, but not before crews get in their last minute finishing touches and get it ready for its debut.

"All the little touches that you would expect from painting to just maybe putting in those last screws to you know last minute landscaping touches little things like that but everything is on schedule,” said John Stine the park’s marketing and sales director.

News 13 along with other media representatives got a chance to ride on of the park’s longest coaster ride but with the new name “Iron Horse.” Employees say they’ve spent hours testing and riding all of the rides to make sure proper safety standards are met.

"Certainly when you have a deadline there's always a little bit of sense of urgency and it's no different here but we are doing that we are moving forward we are also adhering to the safety standards we are doing everything we can to ensure that we open time but also without any incidents or problems," explained Stine.

Several park employees were also busy wiping down rides that took some of the debris left from the construction while others received training from operating rides to selling merchandise.

Park employees say that visitors will see what the phrase ‘theme park’ really means as the rock and roll traces have been replaced by a new focus, and part of that includes activities for those too young for the big coasters such as “Kids in America.”

"I think our new kids area is going to be a huge success both for the parents and the kids to be able to take the kids over there and enjoy several hours just in that area alone along with the endless hours that they can spend in the park," explained the park’s director of technical services, David Ciciora.

The park will open at 11 am on Saturday May 23rd. Tickets for adults are $39.95. Tickets for children are $29.95. Children 3 though 9 get in for free.
