Despite a lot of great deals, buying a new car is still out of reach for many people. One local company wants to help you understand how to maintain your current car and that means more than simply changing the oil and rotating your tires.
If you're like most people and drive your car until there's a problem, you can easily avoid that scenario by going a little further with your maintenance to keep the car you own in tip-top shape.
Northgate Tire and Muffler in Myrtle Beach will offer free seminars on car maintenance.
"What we're going to do is bring a car and put it up on the lift,” said Mike Bodway, Manager, Northgate Tire and Muffler. “We’ll actually take the tires off, show people when they step on their brake pedal this is the cause and reaction, this is what actually happens or when you turn the steering wheel, these are all the moving parts."
Billie Pilson of Myrtle Beach is still driving her 10-year old Buick. "We're all watching our money we're not sure what we car afford to do and our insurance is less and our taxes are less on an older car so even though a new car is a good buy, it's still somewhat important to count your pennies,” said Pilson.
Bodway said other things to keep an eye on include: brakes, steering components, bearings and shock, hoses and belts, to name a few
