Members of the group SOS, Society of Stranders, presented the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross with a check for $18,350.
The shaggers said when they printed the "big check" for the presentation they only had $17,000, but then they received more money.
SOS Chairman Hector Phifer said people continue to give with their hearts for the fire victims of the big Horry County wildfire that forced thousand of people out of their homes, many of them in North Myrtle Beach.
Phifer said, “I would say what we have done with SOS, with the charitable foundation, with the Red Cross, and the Red Cross, what they have done to the community, and what the city of North Myrtle Beach has done is just a tribute to the type people that this community holds together."
SOS representatives said even more money is on the way.
Nanci Conley, with the Red Cross accepted the check for the organization at Monday’s North Myrtle Beach city council meeting. Conley said volunteers at the Red Cross continue to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from people to help the fire victims.
