Florence County sheriff’s deputies said they made their largest marijuana seizure during traffic stop with the arrest of two Florida men.
It happened Wednesday afternoon when deputies stopped and searched a motor home on Interstate 95. Inside, they found several duffle bags and suitcases filled with marijuana.
Deputies seized a total of 92 pounds of marijuana with a wholesale value of $598,000 and a retail street value of just more than $2 million.
Cesar Olivia, 34, of 295 E. 57th St., Hialeah, Fla., and Jerez Jose Garcia, 29, 17410 N.W. 52nd Ave., Miami Gardens, Fla., were arrested at the scene.
Each man is charged with trafficking in 10 or more but less than 100 pounds of marijuana-first offense and conspiracy to possess marijuana, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.
Both remain in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting bond hearings.
