Dean Crawford
Florence – A memorial service for Dean Shelley Crawford, wife of Robert L. "Bob" Crawford, was on April 25, 2009 in Reedy Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Floyd and the Rev. Ray Stevens.
Memorials may be made to Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 2508 S. Highway 501, Marion, 29571; American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave Suite D, Myrtle Beach, 29577; or to the charity of the donor's choice. Cain Funeral Home assisted the family.
Mrs. Crawford, 65, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Carolinas Hospital System. She was born on Nov. 20, 1943 in Marion to Gladys Collins Shelley and the late Marvin D. Shelley. Mrs. Crawford touched many lives in the U.S. and Canada and was loved by and will be missed by all.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and her mother of Rains, are daughters, Lisa Green and Tia Rieckenberg; sons, Alan Green, Jamie Baylor and Bobby (Cathy) Crawford all of Florence; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Bobby) Herlong of Marion, Lynda (Buddy) Rogers of Mullins and Betsy (Phil) Allen of Rains.

Essie Young
Marion – Essie Young, 75, died on April 27, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Georgianna James Young and attended the public schools of Marion County.
She was employed by Russell Stover Candies and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where a funeral was directed by Jackson & McGill on May 1, 2009. Pastor Shawn V. Bell officiated. Interment was at Jackson & Daughters Cemetery.
She is survived by her son Glenn Young of Marion and her sisters Mary Lee Berry of Boston and Loretta Young of Greenville.

Wayne 'Bo”'Cooper
Mullins – Wayne “Bo” Cooper, 59, died Monday, May 4, 2009 in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after an illness. He was born on Jan. 29, 1950 in Marion County, a son of the late Casey Cooper Sr. and the late Evelyn Cooper.
Surviving Bo are his wife, Patsy Fowler of Mullins; four sons, Von Cooper of Mullins and Charles Calhoun, Michael Dale Cooper and Wade Cooper, each of Conway; 10 grandchildren; and four brothers, Willie G. Cooper of Columbia, Casey Cooper Jr. of Andrews, Jerry Cooper of Mullins and Jimmy Cooper of Lugoff. Bo was predeceased by a sister, Betty Jean Livingston.
Services were at 2 p.m. May 7 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Burial followed in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Kenneth Hugh 'Ace' Collins
Mullins – Kenneth Hugh “Ace” Collins Jr., 71, died Monday, May 4, 2009 in his home. Born on Feb. 6, 1938 in Mullins, he was the son of the late Kenneth Hugh Collins Sr. and the late Estaline Capps Collins.
Ace was the retired owner of Collins Paper Company and a graduate of Mullins High School. He received an Associate Degree from Brevard Community College. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. Ace had a special love for dogs. He was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church.
Surviving Ace are a son, Michael Tredway Collins and his wife Tracey of Mullins; a grandson, Joshua Michael Collins and his wife Jackie of Belleview Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Aurora and Velouria Collins; two step-grandsons, John D. “Trey” Thomas III of Myrtle Beach and Charles Thad Thomas of Durham, N.C.; three sisters, Janet Mayers and her husband Chuck of Conway, Esta Lee Parrish and her husband David of Orlando, Fla., and Kim Collins of Mullins; and several special nieces and nephews, and his special family at the Garden Alley in Mullins.
Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9 in the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Paws to the Rescue, Animal Shelter of Marion County, 123 Dog and Cat Court, Mullins, S.C., 29574.

Ellen Anne Chiocchi
Marion – Ellen Anne Chiocchi, 52, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 in her home after illness. Services were at 5 p.m. on May 5 at Richardson Funeral Home.
She was born in Keasby, N.J., a daughter of John and Theresa Nargy Chiocchi. She worked for Main Street Cleaners and was Catholic by faith.
Surviving is a daughter, Theresa Chiocchi of Marion, and a brother, John Chiocchi and his wife, Janet of Lincoln, Neb.

Sharon Kay Denby Lane
Darlington – Sharon Kay Denby Lane, 52, died May 6, 2009 in McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness. Services were at 11 a.m. on May 8, at Richardson Funeral Home in Marion. Burial followed at Palmetto Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lane was born in Worth Sylvester, Ga., a daughter of the late Robert Nickaus Denby and Annie Lee Denby. She is also predeceased by a daughter, Terry Johnson. She was a homemaker and member of the Darlington Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, Gene Lane; sons, Andy Lane of Darlington, Stephen Lane of Marion and Robbie Lane of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Amanda Kay Marshall of Darlington and Hope Johnson of Marion; brothers, Clyde Denby of Leeburg, Ga., Larry Denby of Hiawassee, Ga., and David Denby of Albany, Ga.; sisters, Lois Fincher of Sylvester, Ga., Faye Shepard of Albany, Ga., Theresa Patton of Sylvester, Ga., and Juanita Lane of Marion; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Charles Robert 'Bobby' Collins
Nichols – Charles Robert “Bobby” Collins, 66, widower of Peggy Jean Hudson Collins, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in his home after an illness.
He was born Oct. 31, 1942 in Marion County, a son of the late Judson Lamar Collins and the late Mary Ann Adams Collins. Mr. Collins retired as a supervisor from Flavor Rich Dairies.
Surviving Mr. Collins are a son, Edward Robert Collins and his wife Donna of Nichols; two granddaughters, Brittni and Layla, both of Nichols; a sister, Evelyn Johnson and her husband Jim of Aynor; a special niece Angie Janecka; a special nephew, Greg Johnson; and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were on May 9 in Aynor Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Lovern officiating. The services were directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.

Sallie Jean McMillan Spears
Mullins – Sallie Jean McMillan Spears, 80, widow of James Harold Spears, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness.
She was born July 1, 1928 in Marion County, a daughter of the Ralph F. McMillan Sr. and the late Bessie Collins McMillan. Mrs. Spears retired as manager from Eagles Dime Store and Super 10. She was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Spears are a daughter, Nancy Best and her husband Darrell of Mullins; a grandson, Jamie Best of Mullins; and a brother, Ralph F. McMillan Jr. of Mullins. Services were on May 9 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Devotion Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Little Bethel Baptist Church, 3811 Bluff Road. Mullins, 29574.
