Scranton council members have adopted a resolution authorizing the town to apply for grants to extend its water lines along several roads outside town limits.
The application will go the Division of Community Grant Programs of the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
Council voted on the resolution during its most recent regular meeting, held Monday.
According to the resolution, the $472,374 grant would be used to extend water lines along Anderson Bridge Road, High Hill Road, Borkowitz Road, Ernest Lane and Hawk Lane outside Scranton town limits.
The town of Scranton will have to be provide a match of $63,509 for engineering services.
In other business, council members decided to continue for an additional two weeks with running a newspaper advertisement for bid consideration regarding town hall renovations.
Meanwhile, in Coward, Town Clerk Vivian Pate said council members decided at their monthly meeting Monday to approve an increase in the town’s waste management fee. Pate said the fee will increase from $11 to $13 on July 1.
Scranton’s next council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 1 at town hall, at 1818 U.S. 52.
The next Coward Town Council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 1 in the town hall, at 3720 U.S. 52.
